Ever wonder how long you have to own a Hybrid Toyota Corolla before you recoup the savings on gas vs a gas-only Corolla? Summary
The Corolla Hybrid can save you thousands of dollars if you have expensive gas and you drive the car for 80,000 miles or more. If you plan to keep it for only a couple years and don’t plan on having it for more than 40,000 or so miles it makes sense to just buy the normal Toyota Corolla instead of getting the hybrid version.
Other scenarios where it makes sense to buy the hybrid version of the Corolla is if you drive a lot of city miles. The car is very fuel-efficient in the city – we get up to 60 miles per gallon in the city when we are not racing from red light to red lights.
